Embarking on a journey to Hokkaido, Japan, at the beginning of 2020, my travel aspirations were high, and I eagerly anticipated exploring even more destinations throughout the year. However, little did I know that 2020 would become synonymous with lockdowns and the necessity of social distancing. Restaurant: Daruma Honten

The Mongolian grill experience in Sapporo was absolutely amazing! During my stay in Hokkaido, I had the pleasure of enjoying this delightful cuisine twice, at two different restaurants. However, I found this particular restaurant to offer a wider variety of mutton options, which added an exciting twist to the experience. As someone who isn’t typically a fan of onions, I was pleasantly surprised by how perfectly the grilled onions complemented the mutton when combined with the flavorful sauce. I also discovered that some restaurants go the extra mile by adding water to the sauce dish after the meal, resulting in a delicious broth infused with the succulent mutton juices. This unique touch elevated the overall dining experience to new heights.

The Mongolian grill in Sapporo provided a sensational culinary adventure. From the diverse mutton choices to the harmonious blend of grilled onions and sauce, and the optional broth transformation, every aspect contributed to a truly memorable dining experience.

Restaurant: スープカレー奥芝商店 駅前創成寺

I had the pleasure of trying one of the finest versions of Hokkaido’s delectable curry soup at this restaurant. I opted for the hamburger steak curry soup and decided to enhance it with a delectable avocado topping. The soup had the perfect consistency, striking a balance that allowed the curry flavor to shine without overwhelming the dish. It was incredibly flavorful, enriched with a medley of vegetables that added both texture and taste. Without a doubt, this restaurant’s curry soup was an absolute delight to savor.

This restaurant has multiple locations, making it convenient for you to find one near your vicinity and give it a try. The branch I visited was located at Okushiba Shoten Station, just a short 3-minute walk from the south exit of Sapporo Station. When I arrived in the early evening, there was already a line forming, indicating its popularity. I suggest arriving a bit earlier to secure your spot, as the sought-after dishes may sell out by the time you are seated!
