During the second leg of my Hokkaido adventure, I indulged in the exhilarating experience of skiing in Furano. Considering it had been nearly a decade since I last hit the slopes, the beginner slopes in Furano proved to be an ideal choice for me. The gentle terrain provided a comfortable challenge, and to my delight, I successfully navigated my way down without any major tumbles in certain sections!
In this blog post, I am excited to share a video capturing the memorable moments from my skiing trip in Furano. Additionally, I will be providing recommendations for top-notch hotels and delightful dining establishments. I hope you thoroughly enjoy both the video and the suggestions!
Some recommendations in Furano
During my stay, I opted for the standard Hollywood twin room, and as you can see from the accompanying photos, it was incredibly spacious by Japanese standards. The two single beds were surprisingly generous in size, perhaps even surpassing the typical dimensions of a standard single bed.
One feature of note is the clever design layout, where the toilet and shower are situated in separate rooms. This thoughtful arrangement allows for simultaneous use, enabling one person to take a shower while another utilizes the toilet facilities. It’s truly a smart design choice that enhances convenience and functionality.
2. 焼肉 まんぐう
Without a doubt, this yakiniku (grilled meat) establishment stands out as one of the best value-for-money spots I have encountered in Japan. The quality of the meat is truly exceptional, and what’s even more impressive is the affordability of the prices. Each serving is thoughtfully portioned, allowing guests to sample a diverse selection of cuts.
For those planning a trip to Furano for skiing, I highly, highly recommend visiting this restaurant. However, it is advisable to make reservations in advance, as this popular spot tends to fill up quickly due to its well-deserved reputation.
3. Coffee: Rojo Coffee
In my quest for a daily coffee fix in Furano, I stumbled upon a charming “hipster” coffee shop situated conveniently within the ski field. Whether you prefer to kickstart your day with an early morning cup of joe before hitting the slopes or take a break from skiing to enjoy a steaming hot cup of coffee, this cozy establishment offers the perfect solution to recharge and rejuvenate.
